A Lesson Learned

We were siting at the table; the girls and I. We were making prayer cards to send along with our donation for the tents they are asking for in Haiti, to house the now homeless. I was trying to teach the girls about giving and helping others in need. As it turned out I was the one that needed to learn a lesson...
I was asking the girls if they would like to give some of 'their own money' from the piggy bank to help the people buy tents to live in, and then it hit me! It hit me hard! (some times God needs to speak to me that way:) Here I was trying to get my kids involved in helping others, trying to give them an understanding of what these people have lost, and all we have to be thankful for and then God showed me my heart! It wasn't pretty. I have been very ungrateful. :( Especially in the area of our home. A few of you have probably heard my many complaints about our humble little abode, and I am ashamed over my ungrateful heart. I was also reminded of a time a while back when we were leaving one home and couldn't find another and someone said to me, "Well at least it's summer and you could always tent if you had to." I was SO offended. "What! Live in a tent?" Now here I am, sending what we can to these people that so desperately need food, water, and tents and my heart is broken! Forgive me Lord and help me to be an example to my girls in words and actions; always having a thankful heart. I feel pretty silly about what I thought a house needed to look like, and how many rooms one needed to have. As I look around our little two bedroom suite tonight... some how it looks like a castle.

To Funny :)

Me- "Dear Lord help the girls to follow Jesus."

Keona- "You want us to follow Jesus?"

Me- "Yes, I do."

Kaylee- "I don't have to, Jesus is in my heart!"

I'm gonna miss this...

Since the start of the Christmas season, the girls have taken up acting. Yes acting. Performing the Christmas story for us day after day. Costumes, roles, lines, call times and all!! (they take after their dad) I was wondering the other day.... now that the tree is down, the carols have been sung, and the decorations are put away, are the performances going to stop too? :(

Happy New Year!

I'm so thankful for so many things at the moment... for instance:

Christmas that we just celebrated, "Man shall live forever more because of Christmas day!"

I'm thankful for this amazing year that just past. I spent it getting to know my baby girl Hollie, watching Keona and Kaylee become little ladies, and seeing the incredible faithfulness of God time and time again!!

I am so thankful for another year to come, and for what's in store for 2010! What an incredible gift each day is and I get to spend them with my girls; what a privilege! Learning and growing, laughing and crying, sharing and praying, singing and dancing right along side them! Each new day an adventure; each new day a gift!!

AND I am so thankful for our baby on the way!! May this new little person grow healthy and strong inside of me. We look so forward to meeting you in the spring!

Love you all, and have the best year of your life!!
